Measuring the Comparative and Competitive Advantage of Iraqi Dates Production Using the Policy Analysis Matrix

Purpose: This study came to analyze the impact of government intervention in production this important crop and determine extent its global competition whether it has a comparative advantage or not. Theoretical framework: Dates are most prominent representative Iraq's foreign trade commodities agricultural products, which requires attention that identity Iraqi agriculture abroad. Interest producing dates improving their performance at local international levels is necessity revive national economy alike. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research aimed measure export through Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) protection coefficients, some macro policies related subject study. Findings: key finding was results policy analysis matrix for one acre both showed selling prices level lower than level, what prompts farmers dates.
